GreenLAB
The GreenLAb is Santa Barbara High School’s newest addition, an outdoor learning center, a campus and community resource, and a small-scale farm, designed to teach students outside of the classroom and hands-on, regardless of the subject, or student’s educational or cultural background.
The idea is simple:
ANYONE CAN FURTHER THEIR LEARNING OUTDOORS.
The idea is to create a space where students can learn by engaging physically with their curriculum, so that high school can be both thought-provoking and relevant. While the space will be primarily focused around small-scale food production and environmental science, the GreenLab will be open to all subjects on the Santa Barbara High School campus, as well as to individuals and groups holding seminars, using the space to teach the community about environmental issues and food literacy.
The idea is simple:
ANYONE CAN FURTHER THEIR LEARNING OUTDOORS.
OUR WORK
We provide opportunity for hands-on, interdisciplinary projects in sustainability. Current projects include Jose’s 0 period class Small-Scale Food Production and the Aquaponics Project. We are the future home to the Speaker Series, Food Literacy, among other SBHS programming.
We are excited to invite you to become a part of this radical new vision of what education can be. Please get involved and spread the word so that more students, teachers, and community leaders can take advantage of this great new public resource in our community. If you have any suggestions or would like to get involved, please email us here.
